Do Q1 Grades Matter?

I’ve maintained around a 3.8 GPA for all 3 years of high school. This year, I am taking 5 AP classes, and unfortunately will probably end up finishing Q1 with around a 3.5 GPA. Other than this, I’ve had an upwards trend. Schools I applied EA to are University of Richmond, Villanova, U of Illinois, and Northeastern. Can someone please tell me the impact my Q1 grades will have on my chances EA for these schools? (resume on another post just click on my username and then click the other post)

@TheDiddler18 I can not speak for all the above colleges you have applied to but I can for Villanova. I know they will not do the final review the app until the Q1 grades have been received. My S was told to get them to admissions before Dec 1. That is the deadline. So… I would think they matter there. Hope that helps for at least one of your schools.

Yes, the Q1 grades matter to most colleges – otherwise why would they bother to ask to see them? That said a 3.5 should be just fine especially with taking 5 AP courses.

@happy1 I hope so!! I’ve stressed out about this so much but you do think they’ll understand the slight drop because of increased rigor

@pkchamp89 Thank you! I wasn’t sure if villanova needed q1 or s1 for early action
