Do quarter grades matter?

I’m a Junior and I’m wondering how much quarter grades will affect me.
Usually I do quite average (Cs, Bs, Low As) on the first quarters of every semester and bring it
up during the second quarter so my semester grades are good (High Bs, High As).

Should I keep doing this? Are quarter grades sent to colleges in any way?
Sorry, one of those “bare minimum” kids here.

What’s shown on your transcript?

I don’t even know what my transcript looks like.

Find out, because that’s what colleges see.

Well regardless of what’s shown, yes quarter grades are important because they get factored into your semester and overall grade,

Yes.

Quarter grades impact your final grades, so they are important. Ask your guidance counselor what grades are shown on your official transcripts, as that will be what colleges will see. At my school, only final grades are on the transcript. By getting low grades during the first semester, you end up hurting yourself because that means your overall final grades would be lower.

It depends on your school. My quarter grades DO NOT impact/affect my semester grades or final grades at all (what shows on my transcript). Really, they are joke grades. I had a D in my quarter grade last year because I had to make up a test, and the cut off quarter was before my make up day. I still had high As in that class both semesters, and a high final grade. GPA was not affected. In Freshman year, I had Cs in quarter grades, didn’t matter–still had really high As for the class. For my school, quarter grades are just to show the parents how we’re doing.

So, to previous answers, it DEPENDS what shows on your transcript and what your school does. Quarter grades do not factor into my grades, so it just depends
