Do schools extend application deadlines for recruited athletes? ie Seniors with outstanding performances past the normal application deadlines.

Sports like baseball or track n field compete after most deadlines.

Some do, yes. I know T&F athletes admitted in July at schools with winter deadlines. I don’t know of that happening at the more selective schools though. Also, I wouldn’t count on it—have a plan A in place the student would be happy with if spring performances don’t yield a desired recruiting result.

Sure, schools make exceptions all the time. Many football players or basketball players get offers in April or May, or were set at one school and last minute changed to a new school (no NIL signed).

But usually those are for the best of the best so I wouldn’t count on it. All of those spring sport athletes are in the same boat, and the coaches know it. They do not wait for the end of spring sports to make offers, usually based on junior year performance.

A friend was committed but changed his mind in late spring of senior year and committed (he hadn’t signed anything) to a new school. He was named the outstanding player in his sport for the entire state in May. Not your average athlete so the coach got him in, gave him the promised scholarship, and it all worked out.

Yes, schools extend application deadlines for recruited athletes.

But (generally) if a spring sport athlete isn’t already on coaches’ radars after junior year season, I wouldn’t count on much happening in late spring/summer of senior year (but yes, some athletes can make great progress senior year).
