Do some colleges looks at applications on a first come, first serve basis?

...or do they randomize the applications in the queue after the deadline has passed and they have them all in hand? Yup, you guesses it - I see myself finally being able to click submit on the common app Sunday night at 11:55pm...

I would imagine they read the files that are complete (i.e. all school reports and rec letters in) first. This you don’t have control over.

THIS is definitely not something to worry over or try to game.

But you’re playing with fire because i think every year, the common app server crashes near the deadline.

Don’t be the recipient of “I told you so”

Good luck and get off yer hiney!

I’ve been told that schools that either have “Rolling Admissions” or “Formula Admissions” (or both) do process apps on a first-come, first serve basis.

Some would even suggest that if you have “borderline stats,” you’re more likely to be accepted if you apply early during Rolling Admissions, because such schools are “more forgiving” at the beginning. Such schools can get “more picky” towards the end of the admissions process when they’ve started to reach their maxiumum “acceptance” numbers…

please don’t wait until 11:55 to push that submit button!

Every year there are stories of servers crashing because of the strain of dealing with thousands of students submitting their applications at the last moment. You don’t need to put yourself under that sort of stress.

Good points! Thanks all…
