+/-:Do they matter?

Do colleges look at the pluses and minuses on your transcript? Or do they just look at GPA.

I just got an A- in English Honors, but I'm pretty sure there's an error. However, I dont want to talk to my teacher about it beacause its already 2 weeks after the semester and also, I dont want to seem like a grade-obsessed person (I'm really not). I just want to make sure its right.

Who cares what you SEEM like? If it means improving your grades, especially when you deserve the higher grade, why in God's name wouldn't you change it?

It will matter in the sense that it will affect your GPA and therefore your rank as well. If you think that you really do deserve a higher grade, by all means talk to the teacher. Do it with maturity and you won't seem like a grade-grubber.

Ok, for all of us who do have minuses on our application. Do they matter?

I think they do to a limited extent. Like the difference between a B+ and a B- is pretty significant. But A+ or A- wouldn't have that great an impact.

What's more important, rank or GPA?

rank. you could have a 4.0, but then so could every other student in your school. That's not saying much.

-/+ doesnt chance GPA at my school. We don't rank either.

"rank. you could have a 4.0, but then so could every other student in your school. That's not saying much."

It's still saying a lot because it means you did the best you could possibly do.
