Eventually they should close off the waitlist and contact you. Some schools give a date in the summer where this will happen, other schools let the waitlist drag on practically until the fall semester starts.
Don’t give much hope on waitlist schools, otherwise, you may feel disappointed again.
Yes. I was waitlisted at point Loma around February and they re-considered applications April 1st and I got rejected. So if they are checking apps again they could say no.
It’s in colleges’ best interest to notify WL students if they’ve closed b/c they’ll continue to receive queries late into the summer and early fall. Plus, it’s only polite.
Not all colleges notify that they are closing the waitlist but most do. Not all schools even close their waitlist. Some have been known to go to it after the semester starts if people drop at the last minute. Most top schools, however, abide by the NACAC “Statement of Principles of Good Practice” and close out their wait list not later than August 1st.
