well, I'm curious. I'll be taking a gap year starting this summer, and I will want to apply to other schools in the coming September. I have a few pesky B's on my transcript from earlier grades (that is, 10 and 11), and I can "upgrade" (that is, take the course again get a higher mark) the courses during the summer. However, on my transcript, the dates the courses are completed will the noted, so I'm curious if "upgrading" these courses during my summer will help?

You seriously want to retake classes from your sophomore year? Really?

I don’t know if universities care, but I will say that it would be much more useful for you if you spent time doing stuff like research instead, things that universities WILL care about.

And retaking classes just so you wouldn’t have a B sounds so incredibly boring.

well, I’ve already got research positions lined up… SAT I and IIs are set. I have thought a few other ECs during the summer, but other than the an internship, I don’t really have anything to do.

I know taking these courses will be most dreadfully boring. The only reason I got two Bs in the first place is because I was bored to death by these stupid classes. However, if i retake them, I can get a 4.0GPA, which I suppose will look rather good on my application. However, I’m not sure if universities will care how I got my 4.0 - i.e. I got it by retaking courses instead of getting an A the first time
