I was just wondering about this, because when I look at other international or us applicants' stats, they score like As in all subjects, and obtain percentages like over 90.

However in most top jcs in spore, it's very difficult to get that high marks and while some students do obtain close enough, I was just wondering if us unis do compare and notice that we guys can actually score very high on sat 2 and stuff?

So do they, look at the rigour and understand lower grades?

Thanks!! Please if any singaporeans have experience, would appreciate your response.

Which US colleges are you thinking of? The top ones have several SIngaporeans enrolled and thus are familiar with our education system. Schools like UChic, Duke, Yale, Penn, Cornell, Swarthmore, USC, Tufts etc come to SG almost annually for recruiting talks in JCs, during which they presumably find out about our system too. From what I understand there is an admissions officer in charge of our geographical area, responsible for reviewing all apps from this part of the world, so when they present these apps to the entire admissions committee they’ll contextualize it and explain their estimation of each applicant’s standing in his/her own country. That said, they would normally like to have the best in each country, which usually translates to several A’s, whichever country you’re from.

I’m not too sure but I’m worried about this myself as well! After all, our grading system is pretty hard and almost everyone fails… Even the best students don’t have all As. I’m sure the colleges know that by now if they’ve been accepting students from Singapore.

Perhaps it just makes the SAT results more important, but who knows?

If you’re listed as one of the top in your class and attain a high SAT score then your lower grades may come off as rigorous curriculum instead of accumulated lazy time.
