Do Vassar students hate their school more than Wesleyan students?

Vassar has been one of my first choices for a while, Wesleyan less so. I've been reading the college pr0wler website reviews though, and Vassar students seem to be less happy and more critical of their school overall. For example, here's some stuff I gathered from the polls:

How would you rate the social scene on campus?
Vassar: Very vibrant, with lots of activities: 56.5% Wesleyan: 76.7%

Dorms larger than average: Vassar 50% Wesleyan: 93% !! Big difference.

Low-Stress Courseload: Vassar 62% Wesleyan 90% !! Big difference.

If you could do it over again, would you still pick your school?
Vassar: Yes-68.4% Wesleyan: Yes- 82.1%

Love everything about school and have a lot of campus pride:
Vassar: 38% Wesleyan: 51.9%

Hate school: Vassar 5.6% Wesleyan 3.7%

There's a lot of other stuff, but as you can see, Vassar students seems to be more hateful and depressed about their school, and love it less than Wesleyan students. This is troubling to me because Vassar definitely is/was my first choice. Do you think this is just because of the certain people who just happened to review the schools on the website, or is this generalizable to the entire student population?

I want to go where the students are happier. Something is still keeping Vassar on the top of my list after reading this, but it was pretty disturbing, and I'm considering Wesleyan more now.

Yes, I will visit both campuses eventually, etc.

Although I cannot gauge the amount of hatred Wesleyan students have for their school in comparison to Vassar’s, I can attest to the fact that people at Wesleyan typically love their school. In every interaction I’ve had with Wes students, both in person and online, they have had almost entirely positive feedback about their experiences. Most seem really satisfied with both academics and social life, and feel they have made the right choice in going there. Granted, I have read some complaints about the administration but that is to be expected at any activist-heavy school.

None of this means you’d be any less happy at Vassar, however. Just make sure you research and see which feels a better fit.

Thanks rainingdaisies. Have you been a student at either of these schools? It’s just that Vassar’s been my first choice, and I was disappointed to see in the polls that Vassar students seem to dislike their school more, or like their school less.

I will be a Wesleyan student in the fall, and based my assertion on ample research (have read many opinions and talked to a good amount of students while visiting campus).

I understand the disappointment, only those polls should still be taken with a grain of salt and you may personally still like Vassar over Wes. There’s just no way to know that before you do your own research and visit the schools. Surely you shouldn’t choose a school based solely off of other people’s opinions. (:

It would be nice if anyone else could reply…

You really need to visit both schools. Mythmom (a long time CC poster) PM’ed me 5 years ago that everyone she knows at Vassar is ‘blissfully happy’. That phrase got my attention and we visited with S1 - he loved Vassar and he has had a fantastic 4 years there.
There are subtle differences between the schools - despite all the similarities. Both S1 and S2 strongly preferred Vassar over Wesleyan. (but we live maybe a bit ‘too close’ to Wesleyan and they wanted to go further away.)
Anyway, attend some rehearsals, concerts, classes, lectures etc when you visit - don’t just take the tours and leave. You will know your first choice and if you are still unsure -it is not a bad thing to have a plan B!

Both schools are fantastic, academically as well have a similar “vibe”. My son had to choose between the two and chose Vassar. He visited Wesleyan twice and Vassar once and felt Vassar the better fit for him. 2 years later and he is blissfully happy and has NO regrets. He was not impressed with the campus at Wesleyan and felt it was too removed from a major city. As a music major he wanted access to New York and takes the train into Manhattan often. I have visited Vassar many times and find that the students love their school. You should visit each and not rely on reading too many posts…everyone typically loves where they ultimately end up!!!
