Do You Agree With My Teacher's Grading?

My teacher assigned a short paragraph to my class that was to be ready by Wednesday for peer editing. I wrote my paper very well because I didn't feel like making changes later. My peer editor did nothing. Later, when I checked my grade, I saw that points were taken off because I did not edit (no points were taken off for other reasons). Do you think this is right? Thoughts? I'm not fretting over it since it was a small assignment. I don't really see the point in making changes if it was a 100% with the exclusion of the revision grade...

If it isn’t your fault the peer revision wasn’t done - then yes, that’s unfair to grade like that.

Pretty much all of the unedited high school student writing I’ve seen (from myself and others) needed some changes, so I think you could have found something to edit. (Even if a teacher would have given it 100%, because usually they’re grading pretty leniently.) Peer editing kind of sucks, though, because most of the time your peer either isn’t a very good writer or wants to avoid hurting your feelings.

Who cares?

I don’t care about the grade, I was just wondering what others thought. Yeah, and peer editing does kind of suck, now that I think about it.

Tell her about it, see if you can get her to change the grade.
