It is a habit for many. It can sometimes take you off track from progressing in school. For example, I go to a school that is not that academically competitive, and the county or board the school belongs to isn’t doing well either. I would excel in so many areas and beat my classmates in testing or other talents. However, this pride changed when I measured myself to others from different top schools. I felt anonymous and was astonished to see such great resumes from others posting their academics online. LOL.
Lesson learn: Never compete against the wrong people. If you want to excel, you have to compete against yourself by challenging yourself. It’s never enough to just get a good score on an exam, when you can get a perfect score or at least attempt to get a perfect score. There is no limit in education. You aways want to be the best because you never whose watching or when will the opportunity arrive.
And by the way, I am challenging myself by taking courses at a community college while in high school. I accumulated so many credits. It’s a nice experiences because I feel like I’m not wasting my time.
