I think it's annoying when people who take all regular classes and don't do anything outside of school besides social networking complain that they have no time. I also find it annoying when some students brag about their 4.0 GPA in all blowoff classes.

I guess I shouldn't really judge, but I think it's kind of funny at the same time. I dunno.

I just chuckle inside because I know that they won’t be getting accepted to many of the great colleges they think they will if they don’t take any hard classes and don’t have any EC’s.

I just ignore them, it doesn’t really bother me. What bothers me is the fact that students who don’t study and get better grades and then complain about others are not getting the material or complain about the try-hards.

Some people have to work hard to get decent grades in regular classes. No one’s special just because they checked a box that put them in an honors class.

Not everyone wants to go to HYPSM, a selective college, or a four-year college at all.

Bragging about your GPA outside of a resume or college application is pretty much always annoying regardless of what classes you’ve taken or what the GPA is.

Not to sound arrogant, but I agree with you, especially with the current atmosphere at my school. The administration keeps touting college as the bees’ knees, and thus convincing everyone to attempt a degree. But here’s the problem: the students at my school are simple and average kids, most have trouble getting through just basic honors courses, let alone APs. So in the end, we are sending the aforementioned unprepared kind of kids to colleges, which causes them to drop out, wasting their parents’ money in the process. I mean, we have kids that either fail all their AP exams or do not take any APs as they are “too hard.” Yet they are still going to college.

Anyways, I just kind of laugh at kids who brag about their “straight As,” and then learn that the only course they are taking are ones such as Home Ec., P.E., and underwater basket-weaving.

Holy moly yes. I asked a friend if she wanted to do this camp at Brown with me during the summer of Freshman year, and she said, “I’m studying for my SAT’s! SAT’s are important to me, you know.”

Why worry about what other kids are doing? Besides you are not superior just because of your grades or what classes you are taking. You may think all they do is social networking after school but you have no idea what is really going on in their lives. Stop judging.

Besides, some of those people with 4.0 GPAs in “blowoff” classes will still probably end up going to a decent school and getting an awesome job later. It’s true. Where you go to college is often trivial when compared to the amount of effort you put into using your college time wisely.

That’s one of my biggest pet peeves oh my god. There’s this one girl whose as dumb as a post and is on high honor roll because she’s in bs classes, along with this other girl. It’s really annoying. I don’t get if someone is doing really well in regular classes, why they don’t just go to AP/Honors and challenge themselves. Then I remember that, colleges take account if you challenged yourself or not, so, it makes me feel slightly better.

Not really, because I realize I’m not any better than someone else because I have lofty ambitions and high grades.

If someone is blowing off class to go smoke pot and then complains about how everything is too difficult, then yes, there is a reason to be annoyed. But if someone is taking an AP class they find challenging and you find easy, that’s absolutely no reason to look down on them. People have different strengths in different areas.

I tutored a math genius through H World History last year. He helped me get my grades up in geometry. People are different.

I know this one person who always complains that she has a C/D in French and on level pre-calc. But she doesn’t seem to work hard and is always like “oh French quiz tomorrow. Whatever, I’ll study during 1st period” then she’ll get a D and cry about it. I do it too so I know it’s really annoying.

I hate it when these kids go “How do I have a higher GPA than you?! I thought you were smart.” Well, maybe if you stopped taking BS classes like Phys Ed and Cooking all 4 years…

Go take 5 AP classes in one go. Tell me how your grades are.

I’m not talking about the kids that are in regular classes and do well without being cocky. Yes, some people may have family issues going on or something. Some people might not want to go to a top school. That’s understandable. But at my school there are kids who literally don’t do anything at all. Just go on Twitter all day long, and then complain about having no time. Or when people know that they are very capable of taking something harder, refuse to, and then brag about their high GPA.
