Do you guys come across this problem...?

backstabbing "frenemies"?

So there's this one girl at school that I was good friends with in middle school. She basically told me everything and we confided in each other even if we didn't hang out a lot at school together. Fastforward and it's sophomore year. A lot has changed, I guess I've become somewhat of a notorious overachiever at my school, and quite suddenly (I wasn't really one of the most obviously smart kids in my youth). She is still the most gifted pianist at my school and fairly smart. However, she's also gained a reputation as somewhat of a slut and has sex with random guys. We haven't really spoken in a few years, but all of a sudden I begin to hear that she's talking about me behind my back, saying that I'm not really all that smart, etc. I guess I'm just shocked because I haven't heard in a while. I'm really just puzzled with the situation.

I feel like at my high school, we're all just searching for ways to bring each other down.

I had that happen in 5th grade, but not since. I'm more careful about who I tell stuff to, but I know one person who used to be my friend who now hates me. Luckily, we never really got along well enough for me to confide in her. I learned the first time.

The only thing I can think of was when she told this boy on our bus how I used to love Kim Possible (the show) in 8th grade. I didn't really care, but she said I should grow up. It wasn't even a boy I liked-just some random kid who didn't even tell anyone else. I have to laugh at that.

Lol, what a contrast. It's too bad to hear about your friend problems. Thankfully, "friend drama" is nonexistent at my all guys school. Of course, there are many downsides to the school because of that.

yep, totally. Two friends talk behind my back, so I dunno who to trust now.

I'm pretty sure everyone gets talked about behind peoples' backs. It's high school though, stuff like that always happens.

Nope, never come across that problem. You seem to be handling it reasonably, though.
