Do you guys tutor other students?

An underclassman is willing to pay me to tutor them for math, so I was wondering what would be a reasonable amount to charge.

I've seen around $20/hour for the elitist tutors, $10/hour for the modest. Personally, I refuse to tutor for money, so I'm really active in a volunteer tutoring organization instead. The problem is that soo many parents come and ask for a private tutor. Grr.

I tutor (for pay) through my school's tutoring center. For the (little) private tutoring I've done, I charge $12/hr.

Oh ok thanks for the responses!

To be fair, high school students shouldn't charge more than $20.

That said, $15 is reasonable, but you can always volunteer.

actually, i am in 8th grade and i get seven dollars an hour. well, the kids' mom (the kid is in 4th grade) pays 35 bucks an hour, but my mom takes it for now just in case i waste it. :]

i tutored for free. I just told anyone who needed help to just call me and we'll meetup at a starbucks or library

i do it for free too. charging is...um...evil.

I do it for free as well.

I tutored a neighbor over the summer(hehe, for pay) and I would suggest going with a modest amount. I was asking $13/hr. and she ended up giving me $17/hr. instead. Though I'm sure this wouldn't work with everyone.

For NHS, which I will be joining in a matter of weeks, we are allowed to tutor students in the school.

I used to tutor math for NHS. Ironically now I need tutoring in Calculus.

i do it for free.

I volunteered 2000 hours over tutoring. I taught 131 C and below students, and 129 got As at the end of the semester, 2 Bs.

My school's "tutoring program" is a total joke. You get 1/2 credit per trimester if you tutor, and you're supposed to go sit in the pod (that's what our the areas classrooms are clustered around are called) for fifteen minutes and then you can leave if no one comes. But the tutors hardly ever even go where they're supposed to. It's pathetic.

I'm planning to volunteer tutoring elementary kids if I can fit it into my schedule - but then I'd feel bad because I ought to be helping my younger siblings, who are homeschooled, instead.

i tutor for free. math extra help. tutoring is always free at my school. we seniors just help out the underclassmen when we can.

Okie dokie. Thanks again!

I'm starting this tutoring service to raise money for charity and we're charging $15/hr (with a reduced rate for large groups) .

It's about to gear up (I just got the ok for an endorsement by my entire high school administration). It's called People Teaching People (and we plan on having a website soon :-) ). Anyone want to exchange ideas about tutoring/ advertising/starting up own company, PM me

I charge inordinat amounts of ice cream fro tutroring math. :D
