Thank you for offering this service and congratulations on your acceptance. I know by now it doesn’t matter (since I’ve already taken the classes), but do the number of classes I have P/NP’ed weigh against me in the application?

I have a 3.9 GPA as a sophomore and I’ve received A’s and A-'s in my Haas prereq’s. However, I have taken 4 classes P/NP + 1 deCal P/NP out of 11 classes total my freshman year + summer.

Right now I’m taking 3 classes and 2 deCals P/NP. So I’m wondering if I should P/NP the 1 breadth class that I am taking right now and whether it affects my application.

I was wondering if there was a major/program that has to do with international studies or politics? I know Stern has a business & political economy major along with an international studies program. Does Haas offer anything of that sort?

@Reciprocation: If you check your DARS audit report on Bear Facts, it’ll tell you how much of your units you’ve p/np out of the total number of units you’ve taken., The rule is that you can’t have more than 33% of your total number of units p/np. If you’re under that it won’t affect your application at all

@Yoloswag2014: Haas offers a global management concentration that REALLY encourages study abroad. I studied abroad and loved it, but don’t have time to take the lcasses necessary for the concentration

@stammie: it really doesn’t make that much of a difference. some people say that ugba is better in the spring (which means you’d take econ in the fall) but those details are so minute that they’ll be balanced by other factors anyways

Quick question, does Haas look at any of your other classes besides the prereq/breadths listed in your application? Or will they just look at your cumulative GPA?

Thank you for your answer! However, this is bad news for me because I currently have 41% of my UCB credits as P/NP. I’m panicking right now, but my Haas contacts tell me that this is only a requirement/restriction for the degree and not the application into Haas? I mean, it’s the same requirement for L&S graduation and so far I have not had any urgent message from UCB saying that I am in trouble?!?

@calicious they’ll have access to your unofficial transcript so they see everything anyways

@reciprocation what your friends say make sense to me, you just have to make sure you’re back on track for graduation, but yeah i don’t see how it would be an obstacle to the act of applying. no worries!

First off, I’d like to thank you for starting this extremely useful thread!

I’m currently a freshman and will be applying to Haas next Fall and I was wondering how the Haas application looks like. From what I remember, it looks like the UC App right? I’d like to know how it looks like so I’d know how many activities, jobs, internships, etc. slots I have to fill (no, I do not intend to simply fill those slots with random activities. I understand how important it is to delve into activities that truly interest me in depth.) so that I can plan my EC’s strategically.

Thank you so much,
An Aspiring Haas Student
