nah i don't judge at all. i don't do that stuff but a lot of kids do. they smoke cigarettes/pot and drink beer. if i were to do drugs it wouldn't be that lame stuff. i'd go straight for DMT or heroin if anything. and i would never smoke those cigarettes. i'd have to just take some tobacco leaves, roll em up and smoke em. filters are for pansies.

Only if it consumes their lives...

In the top 20 of my class, there are only 2 of us who drink.
Only one that smokes weed (not me)
Only one that smokes cigarettes (also not me)

I know it is bad, but I don't have many good friends outside the top 100 of my class. We do fine. We are responsible, and we get our work done.

I judge those who do it, and I know they judge me.

^I don't think that blatantly violating the law and "responsible" go well together.

Drinking and smoking tobacco are both not inherently violating the law, but good try.

Underage drinking? I'm told it's illegal, but my sources could be wrong...

"I don't like when people who spend their weekends getting trashed and high somehow get A's in school. "

I cant stand people like that. They're also the ones who also stay stuff like "its not fair he gets such good grades and just fools around in class all day."

^Lightzout, do you mean the people who drink/get As say stuff like that or the people who complain about them also complain about slackers who get As?

^ the people who also complain about slackers doing well

^what he said

So, people who complain about straight-A drinkers also complain about straight-A slackers?

^ not in every case, but yes.

Okay, I'm glad that's all cleared up. :P

"I don't like when people who spend their weekends getting trashed and high somehow get A's in school. "

i don't like people who can't be happy for people who succeed and wishes failure upon them. i consider these people to be worse than the worst drug addict. btw, some of the nicest, most genuine people you will ever meet will be addicts and have other 'problems'

oh and you might consider me one of these people. i don't get trashed but i know how to keep straight As and 5s while having a good time.

I may not like what society offers up as 'fun', so I try not to judge.

"i don't get trashed but i know how to keep straight As and 5s while having a good time."

Good time=getting trashed? I'm asking seriously. Can one have fun without imbibing or doing drugs?

^ Yeah, one can have fun without doing drugs. BUT, it is a popular way to have fun. And I must admit, those who everyone on CC loves to judge tend to be fun people to hang out with.

oh sorry i didn't mean that illegal substances have to be present for a good time. i actually have an even better time completely sober sometimes. depends on the situation.

my belief is that moderaton is key and to really just go with the flow a bit. if you don't drink/drugs, i won't say you are a "loser" or shun you for being "antisocial" or "goody goody" so i kind of expect the same respect back. to each his own. i actually have a friend that attends all the parties, but is mormon and does not drink/use drugs. i love this guy because he's there for his friends and can still have fun with them without judging them. i actually think it's really cool that he has such strong values.

im friends with people that i COMPLETELY disagree with on many issues and its human nature to judge but the more everyone can put their judgements aside, the better. that's why i still try to respect everyone and not pre judge anyone because i really don't know who they are and will never find out if i don't.

sorry...long post...kind of a ramble :]

I know. I agree with...none of my friends politically and religiously (which is surprising, because my beliefs are rather moderate) so I totally see where you're coming from.

However, I don't agree with you on the "respect" issue. I don't see why I need to give your act of breaking the law any respect at all, or why I should not judge or grant great tolerance to someone who willingly does so. I am fortunate enough to have friends that do not drink or do drugs. However, with the few that do, as long as they don't mention it, I don't say anything. But if it is an issue, I feel no problem condemning something that is completely illegal. These kids have made no effort to get the drinking age lowered or weed legalized. Again, this goes back to following the laws that are in place. It's not a lifestyle decision.

I just hope my not drinking will help me get ahead of the party-hard kids in the long run.

This is the fundamental difference between an overachiever striving to live life by a set of rules geared towards optimal efficiency and the "high school druggiez".

My friends and I enjoy smoking weed and occasionally drinking, but don't view high school as some crazy rat race towards success. We are relaxed, and are no where near competitive enough to care about trying to one up everyone around us numerically.

Now I dislike the stereotypical dumb person that just parties and has nothing worthwhile to contribute intellectually as much as the next person, but I know many highly intelligent people that smoke weed on a regular basis. One of my friends smokes daily and got a 2230 on his SAT first try. He doesn't brag about this and doesn't even view it as a huge thing because getting into an elite college has never really been a huge priority for him. I've seen people who just study and focus on school get so absorbed in the college admissions game that they lose sight on the world around them. NOBODY cares as much as they do about obtaining a perfect GPA and SAT, and it would do them some good to let loose every once in a while.
