Painkillers are so much worse that some 'illegal drugs'. No one has ever died from a marijuana overdose, and THC is generally considered neuroprotective, where as nicotine, alcohol, opioids (hydrocodone, oxycontin, codeine, heroin) are neurotoxic.

I think you may have missed the sarcasm in my last sentence...

Oh, sorry, you can never tell on the internet.
:P

Lol, for a second there I thought you were JUDGING me! :]

Well, if you were serious, I was just stating my opinion on the toxicity of legal drugs compared to certain illegal ones.

Yeahhh yeah, it's fine. And I realize the toxicity levels, I've had about a million health classes, and I'm not resentful that you stated your opinion. And.. by the way I don't use any of the drugs you listed :]

EDIT: I wanted to go back and edit my original post, but it's too late.. I'm not ADDICTED to them. I just use them, and I worded it badly. I use them in moderation too, and I do "have it under control". It's my alternative to drinking and smoking.

Just imagine if doing this stuff amounted to contracting FOXDIE. Seriously, I'd lol. Hard.

If i see somebody drinking or smoking then I just say to myself "well, your <sic> better off than them." I think im psychotic
[/quote]
</sic>

I do that all the time, but I'm not psychotic. It's called arrogance lol

I have the very occasional drink with a bunch of friends (as in, once every couple of months!) and I don't see anything wrong with that - in moderation. I have a friend who ended up cheating on her boyfriend -twice- on a night out. I told her to try to stop drinking or at least, cut down. I've lost some respect for her because she wants to keep her boyfriend and yet wants to keep drinking the same amount. I have other friends who drink purely to get totally and completely plastered and I've told them nicely that I don't approve of it, but I won't interfere with their choices. As long as they don't start making ME drink until I pass out, I'm fine with that.

So yes, to summarize (haha), I guess I do judge them. I'm one of those people who doesn't think you NEED alcohol to have fun. Maybe one or two drinks to loosen up, but enough to poison a moose? No thanks.

"I don't like when people who spend their weekends getting trashed and high somehow get A's in school."

I'm sorry, but I can have nothing but respect for those who are like this. If you can do what you have to do in school, and get wrecked on the weekends, yet keep your life intact, kudos to you. Those who have fun yet remember their responsibilities are the best.

I think they're just doing it to make themselves look cool. They probably study their ass off some other time.

I kind of do.
In my school, people drink because it's cool and they get "wasted" after half a can of beer and they are also hypocritical. They all say it's stupid to drink to get wasted every weekend but they all do it themselves.
There are also a lot of people who do drugs at my school and I kind of feel people who drink every weekend/do drugs are idiots unless if I know them personally.
When I first meet someone, I might be biased on them, but I don't hold a grudge against them for drinking/doing drugs and if I feel they're good people, then I'll like them...

Hmmm...I actually do. Not many of my friends do drugs or drink, but some people at my school get wasted at parties (we don't have many, if any, actual druggies). They are hurting themselves and displaying irresponsible behavior.

Why?

Alex

I don't judge them based on that alone.

Lmao, one of the most hilarious/amusing things I've read today.

oh dear.

i get As.
i also get trashed and high.
i'm not a bad person, i promise.

i love irrational judgement.

just because you can't doesn't mean you shouldn't like those who can...

"just because you can't doesn't mean you shouldn't like those who can..."

But that doesn't mean there are not valid reasons either...However, I agree. It's similar to saying "I hate people who get As without trying..." That's nice, but why should they be disliked for easily doing well?

However, I really don't think it's a good decision to get trashed or high. I wouldn't have a problem with underage drinking if it weren't against the law. But it is.

shouldn't we, as voting americans, focus more on the idea behind the law than the law itself? i'm not saying go shoot someone, because that's obviously ridiculous and outlawed for a reason. but if the government tells you "this is bad, don't do it" you should question it!

Right, exactly. But how many of the people who drink underage actively try to change the law?

Fight it, don't break it. Just because you would like to drink doesn't make the law incorrect, nor does it give you the right to break it. Laws are there to ensure a functioning society. A law that does not meet this goal should be eliminated. I'm not asking people to be sheep, I'm asking them to use the process itself to fix it, something that is entirely possible.

I secretly judge people my age who drink/smoke.
