Do you need o-chem for pre-med?

Yes.

The commonly accepted coursework requirements for medical school include a minimum of 1 year of:
General biology.
Physics with lab.
General chemistry (inorganic chemistry) with lab.
Organic chemistry with lab.
Calculus.
English.
New - Sociology.
New - Psychology.

Also 1 semester biochemistry, 1 semester statistics.

Both are tested on the 2015 MCAT and both are required by a number of medical schools.

Yes, you can’t get away with not taking orgo. Many med schools now say only one semester is required if you take biochem, but you are likely going to need the second semester of orgo for the MCAT.
