Do you need to sign up for fafsa?

<p>I am attending a state college nearby and I don't feel that I need assistance to pay for it. Do you need fafsa to go to college or can I pay out of pocket? Thank you!</p>

<p>They have to supply you with their 2012 income and tax information and their asset(bank account, investment etc.) balances and one has to sign the form with a PIN number before you can submit it. This assumes you are a dependent student for FA purposes, i.e. under 24, not married etc.</p>
