I'm still in an undergraduate program(Pharmacology) and I'm looking to apply for 2010 year. I've always taken full-course load but I'm having a real difficulty concentrating in one of my elective courses. Would not taking a full-course load in a semester have a negative impact in the admission decision? Additionally, would an industrial work experience(in a pharmaceutical company) be an asset (even if it is not a bench-work experience)? Thanks in advance

Well, a current senior math major has taken only three classes every semester since she became a junior, but she was accepted into a few top math grad schools. On the other hand, she took the reduced course load because she wanted to work independently on material that was not covered in any courses.

If you’re using your spare time wisely, then it’s probably okay. Wisely means doing research or some kind of independent study or something like that.

It’s not a big deal. I’ve taken three courses three semesters and none of the schools I’ve contacted seemed to care (to be fair, I’ve taken five classes two times and will be doing so again next semester). As long as you graduate on time and in general are on pace it’s all good
