yeah i do but since it’s junior year i feel like i have to tone it down a little. havent been out since school started ): i dont know how people manage social life and grades. any tips?

i’ve started partying sophomore year around 3 out of 4 weekends per month (i like to have a weekend to just chill and watch movies).
I drink but it’s very controlled, being so that I am always aware of what’s going on and remember the night fully the next day.
Last weekend i tried weed, did not like it and don’t plan on doing it again, even though all my friends say you have to try it a couple of times for it to work.

I will never ever ever smoke cigarettes.

I currently have a 4.0 gpa unweighted.

When does “hanging out” become partying? When there’s alcohol involved? Women? What if it’s three dudes chill in in the basement with some Jim Beam? Is that partying or no? Are pasta parties not considered partying because there’s no alcohol involved?

I guess I don’t understand. You can have social gatherings and you can drink/do drugs, but in order to be cool you need some combination of the two.

I have much to learn…

I go to parties somewhat often, but I’m usually not invited to the kind where there’s excessive drinking going on. I’ve always stood rather firmly against drugs/cigarettes, and I’ve just never really had the desire to drink.

I’m one of those cc nerds who has never partied in my life. I’m not good friends with anyone who parties (those who party in my school aren’t focused on academics as much) so I have never even been invited to a party (i guess i’m in a bubble). But what I hear and my moral values make me too scared to ever want to party.

^^^ For our purposes
Pasta Party - Not Partying
Rasta Party - Partying

Haha, well said almost there. I’d say if there are no illegal substances present it is not a party.

^^^ agreed. i do not plan on trying hard to get invited to any parties, etc. i would be nice, but it can wait.

work hard party harder smoke weed every day

Never partied. Hoping to change that come second semester.

I can’t wait for college, work hard party hard(er)! No parents to worry about either…

how much is partying? I party maybe two weekends per month, a lot more in the summer. I have the highest SAT score in my grade. I think I have a good balance–I’m not like the people in my school who do every single weekend and are only friends because they party together, but I’m not like a nerd who never parties.

Honestly, I think no matter how much work you have, you can spare a few hours on a Saturday night.

That’s like the perfect combo of smarts and partying. I think the kids who only party often do worse in school, but having a social life is great. Again, it’s all about the balance and hippychick it looks like you’ve found the perfect balance.

That’s really nice, I guess. But the problem is for people who are overachievers(like me), I tend to be extreme in everything I do, so I have do be careful.

I do party, but I have a good balance between that and my grades.
I do drink at most parties, I do smoke weed a couple of times a month, and I have tried ecstasy twice (just experimenting; I don’t plan on doing it again, although it was amazing).
However, my grades do and always will come first. I get straight As in all AP/honors classes, I intern for a congressman, I’m a pretty level-headed kid.
I love letting loose and partying, and honestly, illegal substances are involved most of the time. What’s important is that I’m always safe about it.
If you’re going to drink, do not even think about touching your keys.
If you’re going to smoke weed, do it with a group of friends with whom you are very comfortable.
If you are going to take ecstasy, drink plenty of water and make sure you take breaks from dancing, and again, only put yourself in situations in which you are 100% comfortable.
It’s all about balance, really.

I will say, though, that even will all the things I’ve tried, I’ve never smoked a cigarette and I don’t intend to. Cigarettes are disgusting and pointless.

I don’t really think any of this will change when I go to college. Maybe the only change will be that in college, I might occasionally party on a Thursday night instead of just the weekends.
