Yeah, like a fish. I know some snot is going to post and be like "I don't neeeed to drink to have a good time." Abuh.

I drink on occasion, especially in the summer when I don't have work that I should be doing instead. Drinking is fun sometimes, but you can only do it when you're at leisure to feel really s**tty the next day. And during the year, I usually can't afford to waste two days in a row (one to drink, the next to feel like ass). Besides, in the summer I'm a social butterfly, but in the winter I usually hate the world and sit there bitterly resenting any displays of happiness and good cheer. And since there's no point to drinking alone, I do it almost never in the winter-time. Unless you're just talking about a glass of wine with dinner, of course. But overall I'm pretty responsible about alcohol; it's fun sometimes, but terrible if you do it too often, and terrible if you drink until you're barfing.

I'm curious: how old were you people when you first started drinking (and by "drinking," I mean more than a glass of champagne at New Year's with your parents)?

(note!: if you drink a lot of water you wont get a hangover!!)
kitkattail: ehh i started drinking when i was a freshman... (so like 14 i guess?)
i used to drink at least once or twice a weekend... i thought i was so cool.
now i've calmed down, but i still fully support it haha.
oh and i know what you mean lionswim: "I know some snot is going to post and be like "I don't neeeed to drink to have a good time." Abuh." hahaha

I've never had a hangover.

And, of course, it's totally ok if someone doesn't want to drink. I just can't stand people who think they're somehow better or stronger or more interesting because they choose not to drink.

I took my first sip in 7th grade but I didn't get drunk until late into my sophomore year. I used to drink at school a lot, but it's lost its appeal.

erm...isn't discussing this illegal on a public forum?

Anyways I never drink.

I drink lots of water (with or without alcohol; I'm obsessive about it), and I don't get really bad hangovers, but I still don't feel top-notch the next day. Maybe not groaning in bed, but not clear-headed and able to accomplish things.
I'm sort of the same about calming down. I used to drink a lot more often, but the novelty sort of wore off. I think fewer people would binge-drink at college if they started drinking earlier, because after a while, drinking and partying all the time just gets really old. Sometimes I feel like somebody's grandmother, but more often I'd rather just go to bed early and get a good night's sleep.

agreed

32 oz of gatorade right after a bout of heavy drinking. That'll do the trick. But don't mix. I've had a fifth of Jack before in one sitting, didn't even throw up. On other occasions, I've mixed a bunch of crap, totalling less than that fifth of jack, and was yacking into the next day. Supposedly my mom was wiping vomit off my chest at 4am, although I don't remember that. In essence: Mixing Bad, Gatorade Good!

occasionally... usually for family events

my first drnk was at freshman year 13/14?
I used to drink too much at parties (like once a week) but I got sick of passing out and waking up somewhere unknown and bad hangovers.. so now i rely on party pills to keep me awake and happy.

Lionswim, i totally agree! It's okay that ppl don't drink - I respect their decision.. but when they say that they are superior, because they "know how to have fun without poisoning chemicals" , make me sick.

... i've never drank any kind of alcohol in my life... helps that i am a little bit socially awkward and don't like to go to parties... heh

I've accidentally drank some alcohol when I was in kindergarten. I kind of drink intermittently but only wine. It makes you feel warm, without feeling drunk. For other alcohols, except for that time in kindergarten i think it was 10% or 20% not sure no.

the weekends/vacations/summer/occasional random weeknight

I had my first drink when I was 16. But after that it kind of snowballed, culminating in one of those house parties you see in movies, where people are coming in that you don't even know, and girls are table dancing (broke a bunch of glasses, kid stepped in the glass, blood all over the house) and the cops were circling but not busting it up because there wasn't a complaint. Haven't drunk since New Year's now though, mostly because I'm busy, and all my friends and I work on weekends, and it's no fun drinking without friends. Summer's the best time anyway, because you don't need to find an empty house. You can just go in the woods or a field.

Orange juice is fine, until it gets to the bottom. Then you have to shake it. I prefer Tropicana's brand myself. Their lime juice is fantastic, as well.

yeah...i kinda live in a town of binge drinkers, and i usually participate on the weekends. There's always a house party to be had, and if not, we have 'the industrial' which is an abandoned lot on the outskirts of town that all the high school kids/local alumni go to to get messed up.

I drink a good bit. I go to parties a lot, but most of the time I show up too late and the booze is gone or you have to bring your own. When I have the means, drinking is great though. It's fine with me if someone doesn't want to drink, I just don't like it when someone who's never had a drink before criticizes it.

Lately I've been smoking way more than drinking. Probably too much. But I'm going to try and get back to my alcoholic roots, like going camping with 2 friends, a 30-pack and some fireworks.

I don't drink too much because I don't really like the taste of beer but if I'm at a party with "fruity" drinks I'll drink one or two. I'm usually really shy, but totally different after a couple drinks. However, I try not to drink too many because they are really high in calories and I try to save my calories for more filling stuff and just drink water the rest of the time.
At my school, everybody drinks at the parties and its not that big of a deal if you drink alcohol. My school is not that great so there is always lots of parties every weekend. Also, I try to only drink when I'm with friends I trust so that they can stop me from doing anything stupid.

Yeah, drinking with someone who will look out for you is key.
