I normally take notes by a notebook. I think I read from somewhere saying that you retain more information doing this. But then, I’ve noticed I am an outlier in most of my classes. Most students in my college take notes on their laptop. Which way do you prefer and why?
Most of those students are probably not taking notes.
I prefer typing because I’m a much faster typer. But in a seminar, I do notebook since I take fewer notes.
I usually only take notes if the professor doesn’t post it online. I find it more useful to actually listen to the professor explain it the first time, and then use the notes as a refresher/outline. If the professor doesn’t post it online, I usually use a regular notebook (mostly cause my laptop doesn’t fit on the little slab that folds out of the armrest in the big lecture halls).
Notebook for sure. I can write forumulas and draw pictures faster than I can type them. Plus I don’t like having to bring my laptop to class. I could see a laptop making more sense if the professor uses a slideshow and puts them online before class, but most of mine still used a chalkboard.
