<p>Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I did not even know people self studied AP classes until I started reading CC. I'm thinking about possibly self studying an AP class next year. I'll be taking 1 other AP during the school day along with Honors classes. The problem is that I don't think my school would be very happy about me doing self studying an AP. I don't even think they would let me take a self studied AP exam at school, to be honest. Could I potentially take it somewhere else? At another school?</p>
<p>I’m not sure why you think your school wouldn’t let you take the test there. But anyway, you can always ask Collegeboard for a list of AP testing sites around where you live and find one that will let you.</p>
<p>last year at my school, anyone self-studying can take the exam. For Calc BC, my friend (only person) took it with the Calc AB exam takers. Since only one person took AP Psychology and only one person took AP Music Theory, both took it in a room (separate time of course) with a proctor supervising.</p>

<p>I had my AP coordinator at my school order the test and then I took it at the designated time in her office (only test taker).</p>
<p>Haha same here, I didn’t know people self studied for AP’s until I came here. And don’t worry about what your school thinks. Because I’m not going to either. And I’m pretty sure they’ll let you since you’re paying for it. Also, there are probably other kids in your school who self studied also. So they should let you take it.</p>
<p>usually speaking, they can’t legally stop you from taking a test there. they’ll have to order it for you. you might have to raise a stink about it though. you always have the option of taking it at another school, though. </p>
<p>at our school, if we want to self-study an AP that is offered as a course in our school, we have to pass the midterm for that course. otherwise, you dont get a recommendation that gives you the all-clear to take the test at our school. </p>
<p>in another case, a friend of mine is taking AP Chinese (self-studied) at a different school.</p>
<p>My school doesn’t, so I go to a neighboring school about 10 miles away.</p>
