Do you think being deaf in one ear will hold me back from admission to college?

Hi!

I am deaf in one ear due to a tumor I had when I was in 3rd grade. Do you think this would cause colleges to think I am not as strong of a student because of my disability? Or do you think the fact that I have maintained a strong GPA ( ~ 3.7 ) despite my disability would help me in admissions?
I am very worried colleges will hate the fact that I am deaf in one ear.

Thoughts?

Unless you’re applying to military schools I don’t see how it could hold you back on your application, if you feel it has had an impact (I’m sure it has) you should write about it or perhaps make it known in a non-whiny kind of way! Colleges love kids who can overcome adversity!

What would give you this idea? Your transcript is what is going to get you admitted, and is proof you can perform. Why would a college give a rat’s behind if you have deafness in one ear? Who’s telling you that kind of stuff?

@Jcannon1023 I wanted to write about it, however, I took an essay writing class and the woman who conducted the class told me not to because it would be too much of “woe is me” no matter how I wrote it.

@T26E4 I kind of am the one who thought this purely because I would worry that colleges would think I could not succeed because of my disability idk, just panic I guess
