So you call yourself “TherealAPqueen” and you’re asking if 6 APs as a freshman are enough? Enough for what? Is this a serious question or a not-so-humblebrag?
To the original poster, do you think it’s possible that your health issues are being caused by elevated cortisol (stress) levels???
Their can be a mind/body connection going on here that you may want to pay attention to.
Just some comments and a question. In a few years being the AP queen will mean nothing. I’m assuming you are going to college. Whatever college you go to will careless about the AP classes after your admittance. Will it become part of your resume looking for a job. Employers won’t care.
My question is what does your family (parents) think about this?
And do not worry about your “passions” at your age, or research work. you are a 9th grader ! Take AP classes and explore, exactly what you are doing. The idea that 8th grade high school students should become “research scientists” or have a “passion” is so stupid, because you really cannot do that without guidance, and you are exploring by studying the AP curriculum you chose , it takes time to learn what you are good at !
@Coloradomama This is such a horrible thing to say to a kid. You wrote passion in quotation marks like it’s some inside joke. Someone’s passion is what gives them happiness and fulfillment. You are crazy to think that 38 college-level classes can truly guide someone to their happiness and fulfillment. How can people know what AP classes to take if they don’t know what they like? You’re basically telling this impressionable 14-year old that she should take a whole range of classes, from AP Physics C to AP Art History, just to find out what she is good at. Glad to know that there aren’t any other possible resources at her disposal to discover her true talents.
Whatever you do, don’t burn out by trying to find a “passion”.
Totally curious to know all the people you know that have “burned out” because they tried to follow their passion. I mean, there must be so many 14-year olds who followed their passion and just burned out from doing what they enjoy. Hopefully, you were there to steer them on the right path of Advanced Placement classes. After all, following their interests won’t help them in life!
“Passions” are stupid buzz word that college people throw around who don’t know anything about math and science. Math and Science requires classes, first and foremost to even start to have the knowledge base to do ANYTHING REAL.
So this is also foolish to say. According to your “obvious” logic, none of the people in STEM don’t have passion because they are in STEM and all of the people who aren’t in STEM are stupid because they clearly don’t know anything about math and science. Are you telling me what you’re doing now in your life isn’t what you are passionate about? If you are passionate about what you do, then you are hypocritical and your logic is flawed so you aren’t a trustworthy source. If you aren’t passionate about what you do, then you are so unhappy that you feel the need to insult people to make yourself seem superior, which means you aren’t morally-sound enough to listen to.
Whatever “inspiring educator” or “wise mentor” you think you are, let the record show that you aren’t.
@Florida25 Let the record further show that your rude response toward a person you know nothing about does not make it so. You are certainly free to disagree with any opinion offered, but your inability to phrase it with civility makes any statement you make wholly lacking in credibility. In my opinion, of course.
I can not even read this thread and tell you the answer is yes, because you would be expected to take 0.
