Do you think I can get into Columbia, Harvard, Cornell, NYU, Macaulay honors college, etc.

I am currently a hs junior.

Gpa: 3.83 unweighted, 4.35 weighted
SAT: (my goal is to get into the 2000s)
SAT Subject tests: (want to take bio and a history)

Rigorous Classes:
Freshman: AP human geography, French 1, some honors classes, etc.
Sophmore: AP World History, AP Art History, French 2 honors, some honors classes, etc.

Went to another school that is a dual enrollment program

Junior: English 3 honors, Chem honors, 7 dual enrollment (semester long) classes

I’m planning on taking 3 or 4 dual enrollment classes over the summer and 10 to 14 dual enrollment classes.

I will have my Asociates degree be for I graduate high school.

Extracurriculars:
Swim team (all 4 years)
(My school doesn’t offer many clubs)

Volunteer:
(My goal is to get 250 or more hours)
Animal shelter, swim team timing and help, hospital

Work experience:
Job as lifeguard

Other things:
Apple Final Cut Pro Certification
CPR certified
Lifeguard certified

I was looking at Columbia, Harvard, Cornell, NYU, Macaulay honors college, etc.

What schools do you think I have a chance to get into?

Can’t really evaluate you until you’ve taken the SAT

To be brutally honest, your chances don’t look too bright for Harvard or Columbia. Let’s break it down:

Strenghts:

  • By the looks of it you seem to have a demanding course load, which is great.
  • You volunteer. However, you don’t show dedication to one particular interest and volunteer work in general rarely stands out.
  • Work Experience. Lifeguarding should also be able to convince the adcoms of your leadership skills.

Weaknesses:

  • UW GPA is rather low for schools like Harvard; although it’s still quite good. It’s also something you can improve.
  • Your SAT. Granted, you haven’t taken it yet but you have to do better than to just “break 2000”. Aim for at least a 2200+ to not have it work against you.
  • Your ECs. Unless you’re competitive enough to make a division one swim team I would really encourage you to get more involved. If a club is not offered at your school, why not start one?

Now, you should know that I am not affiliated with any academic institution nor have I been in any way involved with admissions at a prestigious university. You should not let my amateur opinion stand in your way of pursuing your dream. If Harvard and Columbia are where you’d like to go - go for it; just work your ass off on your essays and make sure you stand out. Lastly, I’m sure you’ll be happy wherever you get accepted.

Thank you so much. I’m going to work really hard on keeping up my gpa and work hard to get a good sat score

Rejected from all the ivies probably. Chances for NYU aren’t looking that good either

Having your Associate’s Degree by graduation is nice, but your extracurriculars are extremely lacking for some of the schools you mentioned. I’m not sure how much the Apple Certification will help, but as of now, even with the dual-enrollment (which I think only applies to public universities) you have extremely low chances at some of the colleges you mentioned. Get some more varied extracurriculars going. Either start your own club or participate in or create programs outside of school as well. Math II as an SAT subject test is also pretty crucial for the colleges you listed as well, so don’t rule that one out.

NYU: Low Reach
Columbia: High Reach
Harvard: Very High Reach
Cornell: Mid-High Reach
Macaulay: I have no idea about this one.

Your GPA and course rigor is there for the schools you need. Though, a score in the low 2000s is dangerous for most ivies (it’ll suffice for NYU). Ivies also need high sat subject tests, and we’re talking about that a low 700s is an alright score for a subject test.

Your GPA is good, but not as good as many accepted ivy students. For the SAT you would want to get above 700 in each section to be competitive for ivies. And you will need more impressive EC’s.
What i can say is that your profile does not stand out, your stats and EC’s are good, but ivies ask for more in general.

good luck
