The world will end in 2 weeks if I don’t get into Georgetown.

Technically it’s possible, there are a number of supervolcanoes overdue for an eruption, which have the ability to destroy most of life on the planet.

Yes it not like is “impossible” for the world to end on 12/21/12 (Even though it’s safe to say that it won’t). As bl4ke360 said, supervolcanoes are capable of wiping out life even if just one of them erupt. Who knows: Nukes would be flying all over the place, the moon blow up somehow, Or the next ice age. eh we have a better chance of being struck by lightning.

Well, I thought I might as well add my thoughts as OP:

I do not think the world will end on 12/21/12 caused by some giant natural occurance, such as the supervolcano thing. It could happen. I am not ruling it out. But I don’t think it will.

I DO however, believe that people will choose that day to do the most stupid of things, shouting “YOLO!” as I cringe. If the world were to end, I think it would happen this way. People killing each other. Nukes flying all over the place as Descuff mentioned. World War III??? All I know is that I’m going to be permanently on guard on that day to protect myself against the afore mentioned idiots.

I also have a basketball game on that day, so I will be playing like it is my last day on Earth which, who knows, it very well may be. ;)

The worlds not gunna end 4 days before my 17 bday. She doesn’t hate me that much :(

Have a nice day

Just browsing through a couple of the response I see that a lot of you are so wrong about what the Mayan Calendar really is. The mayan calendar is just a way to keep track of very long periods of time (thousands and thousands of days), but unlike the Gregorian Calendar, the one that we use today with the 12 months and all that, it has no need to sync with the seasons. Because it doesn’t need to sync with the seasons, it doesnt matter if it has leap years or not, all that goes in is that they translate the Mayan calendar date as days to the gregorian calendar. There is no doubt that the mayan calendar ends December 21st, 2012. However the Mayans never even predicted that the world was going to end upon the completion of the cycle. Its just a foolish idea that stemmed from people who dont know half of what they are saying, and its sad that so many people actually believe it. The world will be exactly the same December 20th and December 21st, except just one day older. There wont be any spiritual re-wakening or any hippie stuff like that.

Gangnam Style will reach 1,000,000,000 views on the morning of December 21st, resulting in a major global meltdown of YouTube’s servers, which wipes out power grids all over the world, leading to the launch of all nuclear weapons.

If it will end, it will be because my choir teacher finally admits that he’s a dreadful time optimist.

If it does end, I wish I could be around to hear all the naysayers (and I count myself among them) to say they were wrong…
