Do you use IM with people on your campus?

I always thought that it didn't make much sense to use IM with people that lived 5 minutes away from you. Even if you didn't want to go and visit them, you could always call or text. IM'ing seemed like an inferior, albeit fast and cheap, way to keep in touch with long-distance friends.

But is IM'ing among college friends common?

Yes, it is. Calls and text can cost money, and they take more time.

Oftentimes, it's just easier to leave a message via AIM to plan dinner times or meeting places and such.

People in college IM people down the hall. Do you really want to get up all the time?

People in college IM people the room next door. Though honestly I feel like I'm the only one using AIM on Mac (and FaceBook Chat is getting more popular...)

let's put it this way... people use facebook and post on eachother's walls while they are in the same room

facebook chat more so than aim

Nah, I usually just correspond with them on adultfriendfinder.
