My parents dont think we’ll get the aid we need. if we don’t then im supposed to turn down any spots i may recieve. /sigh/ all this could be for nothing.

sadness i hope it all works out for you

well you can tell your parents that if you board at MPS you will get a wonderful boarding experiance but be close to them. They can come to all your games and see you their so they wont miss you to much. Explain it by showing how it is a median because you want to board but they want you close to home. I HOPE IT ALL WORKS OUT, GOOD LUCK!!

My parents are fully supportive of me applying, but they won’t let me go to any of the schools without almost full FA. So I’m in the same pickle as you, BlueRaven. But if the Exeter financial aid estimator is correct, then we should have to pay almost nothing. Here’s to hoping!

I need Full FA. If I don’t get full FA then I definitely cannot go. judging by the FA estimator on the SPS site i should get it. thank god for demonstrated need! hah

It’s complicated for my family; it looks like my family has a lot more money than we do. pLus, techically Im international (I think) so I’m scrwed lol. /justthink happy thoughts/

Hey Blue, keep your chin up. Find the school you want to go to and make it happen. Explain to addmissions you need financial help. Take the ssat and write a great essay on your app. Schools like to see kids who really want to make it happen. It sounds like you
re concerned about getting a good education. You
re parents should be proud of you. Talk to other adults in your family who support your idea to attend BA.

OMG!
What muf123 just wrote sounded just like you BR!

besides you cares if you’re international(are you really?)
lol…your an awesome Candidate and they’ll be sorry for not admitted you :)

Thank you for the support muff! My cousin is supportive the rest of my family not so much but I think I’m winning support though!

A7X, I don’t know…but thanks for the compliment!

haha you are!
dont worry…you’ll get into at least one school :)

The only thing which sucks about my parents / applying to BS is that I’m only allowed to apply to 3 schools, or 4 max. It’s just because application fees are sooo expensive. D:

awwwwww :'(

what abt fee waivers?

My parents thought it was a great idea, and even though I’m unsure they’re pushing me to go, seeing that these top tier BS’s can give a big opportunity for college applications…

@bamagirl95 I suggest you tutor younger children. The application fees for four schools would be around several hundred dollars total($100 SSAT+$50 for each school), so if there is still time you could spend most of two weekends, or a full week of tutoring to pay for it.

And act mature about BS to your parents. They may just be too hesitant about you leaving them for long periods of time.

my school now is great! but i would love to go boarding school! my perents dont think we can afford it & they dont want me to go. :(

I tried talking to my parents about BS a few months ago, but they would not even think about the idea. Recently i tried again , sending an email to my mom (so i could say everything wihtout her intrupting) They agreed to let me apply to 3-5 schools. I persuaded them to let me with the whole argument : ’ i will get more experience with college applications, and financial info." If i get in then we will discuss the option of actually going… since not many BS are in the south are i would be going to a school very far away! they are very nervous but i hope that they will support me in the end.

they don’t support me AT ALL.

im sorry your parents dont support you! Maybe the whole idea has them scared… imagine your child wanting to go away to a school for highschool, not being able to see them durning the school year , it is scary and they may not want to let you go. I would talk to them calmly or write them a letter about why you want to go. Maybe they will come around?
good luck! and if you need any advice im here!

My parents thought it was a gr8 idea they have given me their personal support and financial support they’ve hired professionals and sent me to prepcourses, purchased prep guides helped me booking trips for interviews, tests and visits paid all the fees as soon as they were told about them without their complete support this would’ve been nearly impossible and I have so much to thank them for helping me through hell (in education also known as applications). There is no way I could get the education that Deerfield offers (where I will attend) in Sweden that’s why my parents are sendin me, well that and my mother is parctically in love with the States especially NYC so it’s a great excuse for her to come visit me and “stop by” in NYC ;). Also with to young siblings they thought that I wasn’t getting the attention and thime that I deserved and they felt like a boarding school could provide me with such an environment. All in all they were very positive.

@ queenie95… im glad it worked for you! (the email thing) that gives me hope because thats wat im going to try :)
