Are other users finding that their recommendation requests look complete within the Common App?

I have one recommendation and one registrar report that the evaluators say they completed a got a submission confirmation for, but on my end it just says "started." I also have one recommendation that I know was not completed yet and that one says "not started." What status should the completed ones show?

If you school does not use Naviance, a complete rec submitted through the common app online will show as ‘Submitted’ in your account and will indicate a submission date.

Yes, we now have some that show as complete in common App.

first, they should say complete in Naviance.
Then, go to Common app “my colleges” tab. Under each college click on the Assign Recommenders tab. When I do that, I see some that say “submitted” with a date (and a green check) and even a couple that say “downloaded” with a date (and a green check). I assume that those that say “downloaded” have actually been touched by the college vs. just hanging in common app land.

I posted on another thread but still don’t understand one thing… how can a student specify which teacher(s)’ recommendations go to which school? DS asked two teachers. One has uploaded his rec, one hasn’t. For schools that only want one teacher rec, is it “first come first serve”? It looks like they’ve already got the rec either way.

We didn’t see, and GC didn’t mention, any way to specify teacher A to school B or vice versa… just two teachers listed for all the schools.

Any other ideas or should we just relax and hope the rec that’s already been uploaded is a good one?

For my son, Naviance shows letters of rec from two teachers have been submitted. On the Common App, only one of the teachers appears as having been submitted. Should we worry?
Looking at all of the posts re: problems with the payments/signature page, I had better force my son to finish this weekend the apps due Nov. 1. This all sounds pretty crazy.

I think so. The schools will not receive anything until you submit the applications. For example I submitted my common app, then my counselor was able to submit her info, my problem is my teachers cant submit letter of recs. The schools have sent me emails that they have received my common app but dont have letter of recs

I’ve been having the same issues with my counselors and teachers. They claim to have submitted their forms but the common app status only says “started.”

I’m not sure if this is another bug or something, but it certainly has me worried.

If the recommender’s status says ‘started’ but you know it’s completed. If could mean that they ‘saved’ but not ‘submitted’ their recommendations.

Well, to report back, I had one teacher who thought she had submitted because it gave her a message saying submission successful, but when I got her to go back in she said there was a signature checkbox required at the bottom she had missed. And my other recommender ended up needing to contact common app customer service and had to use a non-school computer to get past security things. They both changed to “submitted” with a date after that.

So, I guess if anyone’s still don’t say submitted you should work with the recommender. (And sorry, I’m not familiar with Naviance.) But to answer a couple questions above, yes, you can choose which recommender is assigned to which school. And yes, you’d have to submit the app before checking with the school if they received one of these online recommendations.
