My friend who was awarded a commander's ROTC scholarship will be taking the DoDMERB in a couple days, and she is freaking out because she is currently on accutane.

Will this immediately disqualify her? Or will she be able to get a waiver? Does anybody have any info on this?

Try going to this website and posting your question under the Dodmerb section: http://serviceacademyforums.com/
There is a retired Dodmerb doc that answers questions on that site.

I was on Accutane, but finished up the treatment a couple of years ago. Stuff works.

From the USMA Catalog, Appendix B, Skin Disqualifications: "Treatment with accutane is temporarily disqualifying until 8 weeks post-therapy."

Maybe she will be disqualified, but then get a waiver 8 weeks from now? When does she finish up the treatment? Hope that helps.

I used accutane starting about 4 years ago, and was on it for like 6 months if I remember right. I agree with future warrior, that stuff works.

I put it down for DODMERB on the origional list of medical stuff in my life... the doctor during my physical asked a few questions and but didn't mention it after. I never heard anything more from DODMERB about it really. I guess it's a non-issue unless you'll be on it at the acadmey and then i don't know what DODMERB will think. You shouldn't have any problems if you've used it in the past though! Hope that helps!
