Does a Marketing concentration involve intense math?

I'm thinking of changing my major to Business with a concentration in Marketing. First off, I do well in basic Algebra and Statistics. I would feel comfortable working with both of those on a daily basis as apart of my career, which is why I decided to go with Marketing.

However, I'm concerned about the course requirements that are set for all business students. I would have to take introduction classes in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Accounting and Finance. I generally struggle in math (beyond Algebra). Will these classes be unmanageable for someone like me? Or will they not be as intense because they are introduction classes?

Any input is appreciated.

Accounting requires very little math. The math involved is just basic stuff. Accounting is more concerned with putting things in the right places and following a specific set of rules. It isn’t terribly difficult in an introductory course.

Micro and macroeconomics are also pretty basic math. Economics is concerned with the outcome of decisions. Some of these will require math, but it is nothing more than finding the correct numbers in a chart to add/subtract/divide to get a number and then interpreting that number in words.

I think you will be absolutely fine. If you feel like you are struggling, talk to the professor and get a tutor. Don’t let a weakness in one subject keep you from following what you want to do.
