Hi there, reading a lot about ACT flagging test scores when there is a +4-6 point increase in a subsequent test. Do they ever flag a first time test? My first thought is no because there is no comparison but after reading these horror stories with ACT I’m no so sure. Asking because we decided to have my son do test prep tutoring before he took his first test. He scored a 28 and he is fine with that score and wants to be done. Thanks for the feedback.
Solely based on the score? Maybe not. Perhaps if there was a wild variation between sections. Will they flag a first test if they detect issues with a test center? Undoubtedly.
However the definitive answer would need to come from ACT, and I doubt they would be forthcoming. I would not spend time worrying about it.
I suspect that they might flag it if a lot of your wrong answers were suspiciously similar to the wrong answers from another person in the same testing session.
My close friend had his test flagged for only going up around 6 points. They did not give a real good reason for doing so and said the had to send it lots of information to see if they could keep the score. In the end ACT did not give back the score.
