I know that UChicago, among many other highly selective schools, waitlist a ton of applicants, but does anybody actually get off the waitlist?

Yes. The number of students we have been able to admit off of the waiting list varies from year to year, but in the past several years we have been able to admit students from our waiting list.

May 1st is in a few days, and I’m sure enrollments have been coming in… so does the admissions office have any idea if they’ll be able to admit waitlist students this year/how many wait list students they can admit?

Yes, I got of the wait list and was accepted into the class of 2018 in early April

You’re the second person I’ve seen say that they were accepted in early April… I’m worried that this means I won’t be taken off

^ Ughhhhhhhhh same :’(

Yes - my son was accepted yesterday. Good luck!

I made an enquiry, and was told that a small number of offers have been made to waitlist students, but that they expect the majority of offers will be made after May 1. Don’t give up hope… I’m not!
