Does anyone else feel like majority of transfer students here are grossly subpar??

This thread is very sad.

As someone who has attended “elite” schools my whole life (Wellesley, Cal, Stanford), I nevertheless have the hugest respect for the cc students who eventually enter a school such as Cal, via transfer… They have typically had entirely different life experiences, often needing to work full time while in cc and/or in high school. Yes, they may have underperformed in hs (some of them), but not everyone matures or comes to value education at the same pace.

I came to this thread because of a recent number of reports about insults. As a moderator, it is my job to edit or delete insulting posts, edit or delete posts with language violations, infract individuals who violate our Terms of Service.

However, the time required to do that job on this thread would be inordinate. The premise of the thread is, in itself, an insult. It could have led to an intelligent discussion of the differences between transfer students and freshman admits… and some posters engaged in that intelligent discussion… on both sides of the issue.

Far more however stooped to ad hominem attacks, stereotyping, rude behavior etc.

As such, I am closing this thread.
