I'm a current junior at a public high school in suburban LA with a class of about 400. I'm class valedictorian, got elected class president, have 4.0 UW GPA, and got 2370 on SAT. I've taking all honors/APs and gotten 5s on AP Calc I, AP Calc II, AP European History, AP Environmental Science, and AP Stat. This year my "hardest" classes are AP Bio, AP French, AP US History, and Calc III with a community college. Think I'm too academic? I run varsity XC, indoor, and outdoor track, and I've played piano at Carnegie Hall in New York. At DECA Nationals, I placed first. I'm VP of Debate Club and Assistant Editor-in-Chief of the school paper. I also work 15 hours on weekends as at a local insurance company.

The problem is: High school is such a joke. I have 98+ in every single one of my classes. Even while doing all of the above, I still have free time to waste on YouTube and browsing CC threads. How do I make senior year more challenging? I'm currently in the process of next year's course selection and garbage electives don't seem so appetizing.

What should I do- leave and join a boarding school for senior year/stay where I am and make the best out of it/get drunk and party every night/you decide.

If this post comes across as arrogant, I apologize. Honestly I don't know what to do with myself next year. It would also be nice for someone else to admit that high school is EASY, contrary to popular belief.

Get out of that cubicle and school environment and explore your interests. Search for scholarships, enrichment programs, internships, community service, enter academic contests, etc. Do things of your interest. I'm sure high school wont be a joke by the time you actually apply to colleges.

USC Resident Honors Program. I don't think it's too late to apply. High school was a joke for me until this year when I decided to take some really hard classes. I have one class now that is truly difficult and get B+/A- when I try really hard and I really like the challenge. Since you live in LA maybe you could take a couple classes through continuing ED at UCLA or something like that.

I suggest just having more fun every night, so long as your grades don't suffer. If you're breezing by that easily, you might as well have a good time.

Haha I'm in your situation as well. I'm trying to take more college classes next year and maybe doing research and stuff. Just try to find something youo enjoy doing.

Senior year is more challenging if you maintain the same workload and apply for college. With your accomplishments, I think college would be a good option in the near future.

You could skip Sr year altogether and go right into college. Friend did sort of that. While still technically in high school, he did his Sr year at the local State U (dual enrollment). Applied to the State Flagship U and started in the summer. In the Fall he was a College Jr academically just 3 months out of high school (had tons of AP credit too). The best part is that he has 4 years' worth of scholarship money and by the time he graduates he'll be almost thru with his Master. I can tell you that he hasn't been bored since at least Jr year of High School.
