Like if I read the Princeton Review or Yale Daily News Guide they say both good and bad things about a college. Fiske seems to only highlight the good aspects which makes it hard to really learn about a college. Anyone else agree?

I am glad to not be the only one to feel that way. There is very little negative information about any college. I still like Fiske since it at least appears to be updated a little more frequently, but a little constructive criticism would be helpful. No college is perfect.

are you kidding me? the Fiske guide is NEVER updated. The Princeton Review reviews are updated every 3 years (resurveys students every 3 years)

Pierre, how dare you respond to a random post before answering my PM! =P

pierre, I am comparing the last 2 years and at least the schools that I have looked at in Fiske have been updated, although minor. The Insider Guide is exactly the same except for the admisson stats. My post said that Fiske was updated a little more frequently. Frequent is a relative term in these college guides. I end up using Fiske, Princeton and Yale Insiders Gide. I also got College ******* this year but I have no idea how dated those student comments are.

The biggest statement Fiske makes is his decision to either include or exclude a college. Out of 2200 four year schools, he only rates about 280.

I’m with Pierre on the lack of updating at Fiske. They are still living in the 1990s with many of their descriptions. The data may be current, but the accompanying prose and their “grades” for things like academics, quality of life, etc. often is not.
