Any do’s and don’ts. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Hi Mel2421 - My boys didn’t get to audition at Moonifieds their year b/c of schedule conflicts, but I’ve attended the last few years as an invited speaker. (I’ll be there this year, too, leading a parent Q&A panel.) I would give you the same advice I would for on-campus auditions and Unifieds – go in with a great attitude, do your best in the room and leave it all there, then move on to your next audition!
Bottom line, It is a great chance for you to get a little jump on the season with a few auditions under your belt, plus it’s a smaller environment in Dallas than it is in Chicago, so it won’t seem so intimidating. Everything is a little more low-key.
And, I know Moo plans fun activities in the evenings for all the students, and she’s got a great slate of workshops for parents to attend while you’re all auditioning.
So be yourself. Have fun. Break a leg!
Cool! Thanks I cannot wait.
No audition advice - Moonifieds is really well organized & you will miss it when Unifieds comes around. Be prepared to hear lots of vocal warming up from the bathrooms above and below your room. Go to the parent sessions, even if you don’t think it will be useful. I wasn’t going to go to the financial aid one b/c I thought our high school had covered it - turns out they had not, at least as relates to MT. Don’t be afraid to visit with the other parents you see sitting around in the lounge area. Since no one from our hometown had any idea what we were going through, it was nice to talk to some who did.
My advice is to be sure you plan one meal at Hopdoddy’s (if you like hamburgers) or Taco Diner. Yes, I know that will depend on your audition schedule whether you leave the hotel at all.
If there’s even a chance you will get out, bring a raincoat and/or jacket. We were surprised w/a very windy cold front last year & it made walking down to the nearby shopping area pretty uncomfortable (we didn’t want to take our car out of the garage).
Thanks @WTXMom
I second Hopdoddy’s!!! OMIGAWSH!
I was just on social media and saw a picture posted by Mary Anna about how much she loves her “MooCrew2017” - the thing is… I know for a FACT that not all the kids in the picture are working with her, it was taken at a seminar she attended recently. It just struck me kind of funny.
Ya I saw that @Sammy8028. I don’t know what to think about that.
How many kids does she have each year? I looked at her web page under the “I got in” section, but I was told that that cover multiple years
I don’t know @Sammy8028
Two years ago I estimated that Moo had in the neighborhood of 100 students based on her web page (which used to list students only for that year).
Just looked at the Menu for Hopdoddy’s and it looks amazing. Cannot wait to try it. Thanks a bunch!!!
