Does anyone have any familiarity with Masters programs in East Asian Studies?

Hello all!
I am applying to several masters degree programs in East Asian Studies, including the top schools like Stanford, Duke, Harvard, Yale, etc.

Does anyone have any familiarity with what it takes to get into these programs?

I have Chinese heritage and am currently taking another East Asian language at the first-year level. My undergrad institution is very well known and respected. Unfortunately, my transcript is a mess and I have a relatively low GPA (around 3.35 at time of application) with a 3.7 in the East Asian studies major (though this is not listed anywhere). My GRE scores are 163 V/162 Q/5.0 W, and in my opinion my writing sample and S.O.P. are very good. I wasn't that close with my rec writers so my recs are probably positive but somewhat bland.

What do you think?

bump… anyone??

I have some familiarity with this because my D has been accepted to Stanford (with a FLAS fellowship), Harvard and Berkeley (waiting to hear about fellowships from these two still) and has applications pending at several other schools, although she is pretty focused on Harvard and Stanford, with Berkeley a dark horse.

Harvard and Stanford are pretty tough to get into. I believe both accept about 15% of the applicants. I don’t know about Yale or Duke. Hopefully you also applied to some excellent but possibly less competitive programs such as University of Washington-Seattle and UC-San Diego.

Given that this is a month after your posting, maybe you have already heard back. If so, let us know the results.

Hey, yeah I heard back and have decided to go to Georgetown
