"its so hard to get a 5 in some subjects (last year, out of 120 kids taking AP Bio M, only 10 of us got 5's.)

Perhaps that speaks more about your school than the test? 18% of students who take the Bio test get 5's, which is pretty decent(its 7.5% 5's for english lang!)

Why is it bad to come in with a lot of ap credit? won't that just allow you to take more classes you like? If I get 5s on all my tests this year(Physics C Mech, E&M, calc bc, stats), I can get like 90 credits, based on what i've seen from the scs ap credit policy. I already got 5s on english lang, cs, us h, and physics b. I would like having a lot of credit so i don't have to try too hard to get enough credits.

Im going into MCS with 5's in Physics B and Art History(what the...) and a 3 in Lit (:(). I'm taking 6 this year though. Hopefully I can pull a couple 5's so I can get into some major-specific classes earlier.

I got a 5 on the practice test for Lit we took in class, so we'll see about that. I'm planning on 2 in Comp Sci, 3 in pysics, 4 in Calc, 5 in Lit.

I have gotten a two 3, and a four from the exams I took last year. And problably will do horrible on the ones I am taking this year (physics, calc, french, and english) so If I decided to go to CMU I wouldnt have ap credits either.

I'm in a rather different situation - I went to school outside the US and I did the IB program, which is similar to the AP except it involves more - you have to write a 4000-word essay over two years, do service hours, and a bunch of other crap, as well as take hard exams. I only got credit for 2 of my 7 IB exams, all of which are at least equivalent in difficulty to certain AP exams, for which you CAN get credit. Yeah, don't do the IB program and then go to college in the States.

But wouldn't you save money form grad school by taking grad courses as a junior or senior? Well that is if you're planning on going to grad school.

Nope but I'm deciding between CMU and URochester. It's fin aid that's keeping me from putting my deposit down. I'm just not sure if its worth 20 thousand a year in loans is owrth it...I'm just really confused right now.

I just hope i don't ge tstuck in a bad dorm cus I'm sending my deposit late.

yea i got about ~20 thousand in grants, 2500 in workstudy, and ~10 thousand in loans. So thats ~10 thousand I have to pay out of pocket, in other words more loans. Then there Rochester which onveniently decided to do my ad package last, hopefully ill hear from them tommorow.

I'd preffer CMU, but all those loans may be too much especially since I wanna go to grad school for my PhD. It's times like this that make me favor socialism lol.

hahahah yeah i know what you mean...i only got 17 thousand in grants...and i was waiting for one last school to give me more grants and it came back with my package of zero dallors...which made me decide cmu due to lack of option mostly...lol...but i like the school...so it worked out pretty good..except for the million dallor loans...haha

hopefully I can make up for a chunk of the loans with a paid research position or on campus job...I can't have 80 thousand dollars worth of loans out of college

yeah i want to get a job on campus too...hopefully the pay will be good!i was going to apply to urochester too...cant remember why i didnt...maybe their supplements were too long? lol
