same question

IDK, but I would assume that they have already... considering that the "likely" letters have gone out...

what is a likely letter ?

Well likely letters at some schools (like Duke--see their likely letter thread) seem to be going out in waves, so don't count on it. And at some schools, the interview deadline was last week (Yale was Feb. 28 if I'm not mistaken) so the committees still have that info to take into account...at least at Yale, by no means are decisions final now. Dunno about Harvard, I'd guess the same.

From the Harvard Gazette:

"In the coming weeks, the Admissions Committee and faculty members will read all the applications carefully and make the final decisions on the Class of 2011 during meetings that began on Jan. 30 and end on March 19. Applicants will be sent letters informing them of the committee's decisions at 12:01 a.m. March 29, and will be notified by e-mail later that day if they so requested. Admitted students have until May 1 to make their final college selection."

it's soon.

where do we request email notification?

How do they send letters at 12:01 A.M. on March 29?
Is that an actual tangible paper letter?
Sorry, that's a dumb question.

The letter itself is mailed out at midnight. The emails will be sent around 5pm EST.

the request was on the application (they asked if you wanted to be notified of your decision by email). if you are not sure if you did that, log onto the application status website using your last name and pre-assigned pin and make sure that "Decision by Email" is marked yes. It's hard to believe that it's March 4.

i know, so close to my first rejection letter :) Good Luck Guys!

It's insane how fast this year has gone by...and how slow this month will go by...

At least I have 3 speech and debate tournaments in the 5 weekends of March to keep me busy. And school of course.

I totally agree with downtown128, this month is passing soooooo slowly. I keep on checking my status even when I know perfectly the results won't come out early...*I wish they would just get it over with. I can't believe we have to wait months for a yes/no/maybe answer( and for Ivies, the maybe or waitlist = polite rejection).

I hope we both get in! ( or at least I hope someone who read my file actually liked some part of my app.)

Yeah, I keep checking my status too!

The wait is killing..

you all should have applied to cornell. rolling admissions takes away some of the burden.

but aren't only some schools of cornell rolling?

"How do they send letters at 12:01 A.M. on March 29?

Yes. They are big, 9"x12" packages. Traditionally, the admissions staff all joined together to physically hand off the "yes" envelopes into the truck and send them on their way. I don't know if they still do it, but it was an end-of-the-season ritual for them.

Wow, imagine the people who applied and are living close to Harvard's campus right about now...I can just see them stalking around campus, waiting for the envelopes to emerge. Quite amusing. Then again, if I lived close to the campus, I'd probably do that too. To be fair.

imagine how relieved the admissions officers would be- having read thousands of applications. They probably won't read a thing until next season.

wait... so acceptance letters come is FAT packages??? So you can tell by the envelope size???
:( Depression
