Does anyone know if Clemson National Scholar finalist notifications have been sent out yet?

My daughter had a 35 ACT, 2230 SAT, NMF, 7APs, multi-sport Varsity athlete, national science competition finalist, good ECs, recs, etc when she was a finalist in 2014. I think you need to have similar stats to be invited as a finalist. She attended the scholarship weekend with my husband and fell further in love with Clemson, but was not offered the scholarship in the end. She was very disappointed, but even more so that the default scholarship offer was to add another $1500 to the original 15K that she had already been offered with her admission. She would have loved to attend Clemson, but it was not enough merit to make it affordable in the end for an OOS student, especially with 3 full tuition offers at other good schools. My husband also remarked that several of the finalists were children of Clemson employees. I think that their goal is to enroll approx. 10 National Scholars each year, not sure how many offers that translates to, maybe 15.

@CTigerMom No letter here either . Son is ranked in the top 1% of his class with UWGPA 3.96 and WGPA 4.95 GPA , Eagle Scout, lots of volunteer hrs, president of Science club , team captain for Science and Academic team, 8 AP classes, but his ACT is a 32. Hopefully, he’ll get into Calhoun . Looks like we’ll be waiting another month to find out.

Kinda disappointed - no packet here. I have a 35 ACT, school does not rank (although I am definitely towards the top), every AP my school offers, lots of leadership, solid ECs, and stellar recs. I assume it was my essays that held me back…my application was kind of thrown together.

No letter here either, also disappointed…oh well. Not sure if I didn’t have enough ECs or if it was my essays, two I felt pretty confident about but one was kind of weak. Still excited to go to Clemson, and happy for those who got letters

It’s actually quite odd. We had no mail at all. To all with great stats maybe mail was delayed secondary to the holiday .

I knew you had to be the best of the best to get in the NSP. Getting into Calhoun Honors College will be the
deciding factor for my daughter to go to Clemson. Since I’m an alumni, I would love to see her go to Clemson even though it will be more expensive since we are OOS. If she does not get into the honors program, she will most like go to UNC-CH, which is in state for us. Crossing fingers for everyone to make it into Honors College.

@CTigerMom Calhoun will also be a huge deciding factor for my son as well. Good luck to your daughter .
