Is it actually legit as a business frat?

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: AKPsi was at Duke for a long time, before eventually becoming defunct. It just recently was started up again (about 4 years ago) and so is in the process of growing once more. However, just because it is only about 4 years old at this point does not mean that it is less “legit” than at other universities- if anything it is the opposite. It is backed by Emma Rasiel, who before becoming a professor at Duke worked for Goldman as an Executive Director in the London branch. Needless to say, she knows a thing or two about finance, and just business in general, so her guidance alone is reason enough to give AKPsi a look. As far as business activities, the fraternity participates in a variety of business related exercises, competitions, etc while still maintaining a social network of both current undergraduates and alumni. The only real negative I can think of is that the people involved (and so the fraternity in general) seems to be more geared towards the finance side of things, so while there will certainly be a place for you if you are interested in other aspects of business, it will likely not be quite as in-depth as the finance side of things is.

DVF (Duke Venture Forward) offers a better business network, superior mentorship and the internship/job placement of its members is unparalleled. Why pay for AKPsi when you can just join DVF?
