Does anyone know someone who got into UCLA and CAL?

i got into both with a 3.78
i also was missing 3 major prep classes for UCB but they accepted me anyway

A friend of mine studying pure mathematics. He got transfer acceptance into Cal, LA, and UCSC and chose Santa Cruz. He liked the campus and has family there so he felt it would be his best option.

That does make me feel better! Thanks so much(:
so I’ll have a 3.5ish polisci  But I have the material to write a great personal statement that may explain why I have that gpa and I plan to get straight As from here on out.
& what would you say my chances are for UCLA?
I’ll have all pre reqs done and I have great volunteer work/internships. My only real paid job is frequent babysitting…

Also: What do you guys feel helped you get in despite flaws throughout your transcript?

It might be a stretch getting into UCLA as a polisci major with a ~3.5. You’ll need around 3.7 to be competitive in that major. I was lucky that I made it through with the minimum. Have you checked that your stats class satisfies the UCLA poli sci department’s requirement? If not and you make it in, you’ll have to retake the class. It happened to the rest of my group at orientation.

Do you guys think I have a decent chance of getting in as a philosophy major? I’ll end up with a 3.4-3.5 most likely…I don’t have TAP

^ Very unlikely, unless you have some amazing ECs and/or achievements…
Go here if you want others to chance you: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1164969-2012-transfer-chance-me-thread.html

OK so I’m adding 1 more class next semester which changes things slightly
I am now sure(hopeful) I will have a 3.6 by the end of fall
work exp: babysitting…stuff like that
volunteer work: good, frequent
Great polisci related internships.
PS: WILL be strong. they will talk about my internship and focus on how poli sci isn’t just an academic thing for me, it’s my life, growing up a different culture and all, overcoming hardships. stereotypes blah blah
and then for “additional comments” I plan to write something along the lines of “I was going through many of the things mentioned in my PS in spring 2011 which explains the several B’s(which at the time, I was very proud of)…so I hope my upward trend, motivation, and determination to excel will be taken in to consideration”
Chance for UCLA?
(and other ucs)
Thanks in advance for you input!

What about an expected 3.2GPA and TAP for UCLA’s Linguistics and Asian Culture and Language. IGETC done and most pre-reqs will be finished.
