Just trying to get D prepared - is the timing of the breaks a standard thing? A friend told me that the first break was after the first two sections, but I don't know if it's up to the test facility or what. Any clarification on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

I believe the timing of breaks is standard. Two back-to-back sections (English and Math) before the break is definitely standard. On the ACT website, it says there is a “short break” after the first two sections and then a “short break” before the essay. I remember the proctor reading the instructions from the booklet and saying there was a 10 minute break.

Make sure to use the bathroom before walking into your assigned room. Trust me. It will be at least 2 hours before the first break because it takes a while to read instructions and check people in.

Here is the timing:

English - 45 minutes
Math - 60 minutes
Break - 10 minutes
Reading - 35 minutes
Science - 35 minutes

Does the essay come after all 4 sections?

Are snacks allowed at either break? I know they cannot be eaten on the test room.

Essay is the last section and yes you can have snacks during break provided they are eaten out of the class room and such.
