After 9 10 11 12, there's a "PG" year. Does anyone know what it means? Does it refer to the gap year?

I believe it's post-graduate

hmmm. wow the online commonapp says its "13th year of high school"?! that doesn't indicate that it's post-graduate. it makes you sound like you were retained.

So that space should be for the gap year, am I right?

Also Canadians have the option for 13th year. There's nothing "bad" about it nor is it seen as "retraining"

it means proctor and gamble......jk

or parental guidance... :P

No, it means Pre-Gangster

Actually it's Pre-Gradschool for the kids who cure world hunger at age 4.

PG = postgraduate year in this context. Some students enroll in a "prep" high school for a postgraduate year after doing the usual years of high school at a local school.

Yes, some Canadian students in some provinces routinely study in a 13th grade before graduating from high school.

hm, thing is, I didn't enroll in any school during my 13th year. essentially i enlisted into the military. I still checked the PG box for the activities which I continued doing while serving in the military. would that be alright, or should I email Yale an explanation?

can "gap year" be used interchangeably with "PG year"?

can a PG year be spent in the military, even if it's conscription?

A gap year is not the same thing as a PG year. A gap year is when you take a year off of school to work, travel, or do other activities of your choice. A PG year is when you are enrolled in a prep school for an extra year. Typically PG students are athletes who want to star on the field while polishing up their academics.

shucks. what should i do now?

should I email the Yale admissions office and tell them abt the mistake??

Yes, I would.

damn, just when I thought I could chill out and watch cable for awhile. the perils of being an international student. I've sent an email, and I hope they won't be too annoyed.

argh. no reply yet. and tomorrow's the weekend and I don't wanna spend it worrying about this. should I call?

Don't worry about it. It's a minor mistake of terminology, and they'll probably figure out what you meant on their own anyway.

I really hope they do.. I'm so worried I might do a stalker thing and keep bugging them abt it. I'll control myself.

After all, I didn't state any PG school, and I said I've been conscripted the past year. my "PG" activities involve church and giving tuition, not any school activities. hope they can tell that those are the only activities i could do outside my army hours. they'll figure it out right?
