I know someone who got their notification at 11:15 pm…hope that’s not us!
Another teaser just went up on twitter.
“Yes… I would like to cite ‘cruel and unusual punishment’–”
In the past they have posted decisions after 4:30 now that I look back…so it’s possible that could happen today.
Like in the evening?
There was a past year when they announced that decisions were up at 5:10ish.
They just tweeted that it will NOT be today.
Unbelievable that they would get everyone’s hopes up like that by teasing us all day. I was unable to focus in school today because of all the nerves because they made it seem like it would be today.
This is terribly unfair and kind of abusive.
I wish I had the guts to call the Admissions office and tell them how unfair this is. Last year the applicants found out on December 11th.
Seriously @stressedsenior16 I wish I could tell them how this has made me feel. I’ve been so unfocused all day.
In fairness to the admissions office, while I feel your pain, I can promise that they arent enjoying dragging this out! When I worked in Admissions we stressed about getting info out on time. Sometimes s**t happens and things are of your control. In this case, the college has been very careful NOT to promise something they can’t deliver. Yes, it’s frustrating. Yes, you would like know. And, yes, historically they have notified on a certain date, etc. but it was never guaranteed to be the same this year. Take a collective deep breath.
Yes… if you had any idea how stressful it is to be in the other side reading apps, you would be more sympathetic. Was on a college visit with D1 a few years ago at a different school where they were mailing the letters out while we were in admissions (pre-portal for that school). Everyone in admissions was at the window watching the mailman load the boxes into his truck. They told us that the year before it had been a rainy day, and the postman had dropped a box and all the letters went under the truck in the rain and mud! Hang in there, they are working hard this week.
Don’t get me wrong–I am not upset about the fact that they haven’t released the letters yet. It is definitely frustrating to keep waiting for so long but I know that is part of the process and it will be over with soon. I understand that there were some unavoidable technical issues and I know of all the hard work that goes into it. I appreciate all of that very much. What I had a problem with today was all the teasing that went on on Twitter today. The admissions officers were treating it like it was a fun game for them to tease the students asking questions. I just thought it wasn’t necessary because this is our futures we are waiting to hear about and it’s not a joke to us. In fact, it’s the biggest news I’ve ever waited for in my life, so I didn’t appreciate all the teasing. I just wish there was some more solid coverage is all. No insults to the admissions process or staff meant at all!
As somebody who is deeply entrenched in college admissions, you probably read some of our works to help with your search, I actually applaud Dickinson Admissions. Yes, as a prospective student and prospective parent the waiting is horrible.
But, it is significantly better then accidentally releasing the wrong information. We hear about it every year and prospective students and their families don’t forget. Nobody but us will remember this incident (if you could call it that).
Yeah, it’s not fun to wait, but, it makes that acceptance all the better. As I mentioned earlier, in the grand scheme of life, an extra day or two means nothing.
Good luck to everybody!
So the latest on Twitter says it won’t be out today but that they were “putting on the finishing touches, making sure it was all correct and were really excited to release” the info. Sounds like tomorrow sometime!
@catlady I sure hope so! I know I should try and not get my hopes up in case it doesn’t release until Friday, but I’m too excited!
It’s a new day, guys!
We’ve got this, folks!
I have been and will continue to obsessively check the Twitter feed every 15 minutes. I appear to be way more wound up about this than my kid, lol.
