My favorite subjects in High school are economics and physics but, ironically my least favorite subject is math. Does anyone think math is too dry a subject and subjects like economics and physics give structure and substance to math? Thanks in advance!

It depends on how far along you are in math.

Up through calculus, most math is a tool that you are learning to use - which can be applied to business, building stuff, etc.

Higher level math is beautiful and satisfying in its own right.

^ I agree. I think that pure is amazing by itself, especially once you get past the number-crunching and start solving problems. Economics and Physics are too… unstructured and broad for me.

You may have a problem with how math is taught, not math itself. Check out this video: <a href=“Dan Meyer: Math class needs a makeover | TED Talk”>https://www.ted.com/talks/dan_meyer_math_curriculum_makeover

I was always good at math but never particularly enjoyed it up through high school/calc 2. I then didn’t take much math in college until I started to see its applications and how the pieces fit together when I started to use more of it in my research in neuroscience/robotics. Now I’m trying to cram in as many math electives as I can before I graduate. It’s a matter of perspective, I think.
