Does applying for financial aid affect the acception for international student?

I am a Canadian student and will apply MIT. If I apply for financial aid, will it make my chance smaller?

Also, does anybody know how many Canadian students were accepted by MIT each year normally?

Admissions has always said that they are need-blind in admissions. Your financial aid status won't be considered in your admissions decision.

I have never seen any published information, even in the admissions blogs, about how many students from each country are accepted each year. You will note from the Registrar's data that there are currently 18 undergraduates from Canada (and 207 grad students).

Thanks, mootmom.

As far as I know, both Upenn and Stanford officially said the financial aid will be considered for international students, though the policy is need-blind.

From Matt McGann here:

Remember that we do admit all students, foreign and domestic, in a need-blind process, and meet full financial need for all of our admitted students, including international students.
